It can be really difficult to watch your friends break up.
The Marriage & Relationship Counseling Institute™ was founded by two therapists in California to help couples create and keep healthy relationships. The story of the Institute's creation, though, is quite personal.
Several of our friends, all in great long-term relationships divorced. If you're like us, it can sometimes be really hard to watch how divorces tear apart couples and families. Some tried counseling, but couldn't find a good therapist who practiced the latest, most research-based methods proven to help couples move beyond arguments and emotional disengagement, staying together long-term.
They were disappointed with this, and frankly so were we. They wanted the best help that science had to offer, and it couldn't be found. We did some homework, only to find that there are very few national organizations dedicated to researching healthy relationships, let alone providing the most proven counseling methods to couples in relationships.
Several other friends asked us to create such an organization for couples. Our initial response was, "Who... us? We can't do that." But then after more thought, and collaboration with supportive industry leaders in the couples' therapy field (namely The Gottman Institute in Seattle), we decided to create an organization that applied the latest research-based methods to couples counseling in order to make sure that their relationships are successful. We wanted to give couples the best chance to stay together. At the Institute, we give couples the most effective tools and resources to stay together. Couples reach their goals to get over conflicts and love more - giving hope for their relationship.
Now we have a relationship clinic in San Francisco and Newport Beach, California, staffed by some of the most well-trained couples therapists we could find. We also have a research department which continues the work of John Gottman, the country's leading relationship researcher.
I wouldn't ever wish relationship pain on anyone, but if you're ever looking for help try out a free consultation appointment. Maybe you and your spouse could benefit from some of the things we've learned about how successful couples end conflict around issues involving parenting, infidelity, money, and other important topics.
We wanted to make it easy for couples to schedule an appointment, so our openings are now online HERE. The Marriage & Relationship Counseling Institute™ was created solely to help relationships just like yours succeed and thrive.
